About the 5th Corps

The 5th Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, known as the People’s Force (Sila Naroda), was formed on October 21, 1992, with its headquarters in Bihać. Under the command of General Atif Dudaković, the corps successfully defended the Bihać Pocket — a completely surrounded enclave — for 1,244 days of siege. In its final offensive — Operation Sana ‘95 — it liberated Bosanski Petrovac, Ključ, Sanski Most, and Bosanska Krupa, linking up with the rest of free Bosnia and Herzegovina.
With over 18,000 soldiers in 9 brigades, the 5th Corps conducted 7 major operations, liberated over 300 km² of territory, and held more than 11% of BiH’s total territory at war’s end. This site is dedicated to preserving the memory of the people, brigades, and battles that shaped the history of the 5th Corps.
