Operation Lightning '93 was the first major offensive operation of the 5th Corps. It was carried out by the 505th Brigade under the command of Izet Nanić. Only 360 lightly armed fighters faced a well-entrenched brigade of the Army of Republika Srpska. The result was impressive — 163 killed VRS soldiers versus only 18 killed from the 505th Brigade.
