Event Details
Operation Storm was a joint action of the Croatian Army (HV) and the Army of RBiH that led to the lifting of the siege of the Bihać Pocket after more than 1,200 days of complete encirclement. On 5 August 1995, the 5th Corps launched an offensive coordinated with the HV. At Ćorkovača, commander of the 505th Knightly Motorized Brigade Izet Nanić was killed, a heavy blow to the corps. The same day, 5th Corps forces linked up with the Croatian Army at Tržačka Raštela, breaking the ring around Bihać. This was the key moment that enabled the later Operation Sana '95 and final liberation.
