About the Brigade
The 511th Glorious Mountain Brigade was formed from the 111th Bosanska Krupa Infantry Brigade. Under the command of Mirsad Sedić, who had previously been deputy commander of the 5th Corps, the brigade liberated Bosanska Krupa on 17 September 1995 after 1,244 days of war. After the death of commander Mirsad Crnkić, Sedić took command on his own initiative and led the brigade to final liberation. For this feat he was awarded the Golden Lily in 1996 and the Order of Military Merit with Silver Swords in 1998.
