Course of the Operation
Operation Fire '92 was the first offensive action of the 505th Buzim Brigade under the command of young commander Izet Nanić. It was carried out on 7 October 1992 with the aim of pushing back the 1st Novigrad Infantry Brigade of the VRS positioned on the outskirts of Buzim. The action was executed by the Hamza special forces and a company of the 105th Buzim Brigade's 2nd battalion together with the Apache detachment from the 111th Bosanska Krupa Brigade. This battle was a strategic success for the young commander and the first offensive action of the 505th Buzim Brigade.

Background
After the formation of the 505th Buzim Brigade in early 1992, the Bihać Pocket was under constant pressure from Serb forces. Commander Izet Nanić decided to shift from defense to offense in order to liberate territory and capture war booty needed to equip the units.
Course of the operation
Operation Fire (Oganj) was carried out on 7 October 1992. The 505th Buzim Brigade under Izet Nanić attacked enemy positions on the hill of Ćorkovača, southwest of Buzim. The attack was supported by the Hamza and Apače companies, which distinguished themselves in close combat.
Outcome
In this first offensive action of the 5th Corps, about 20 square kilometers of territory were liberated. A significant amount of weapons and equipment was captured from the enemy, directly strengthening the brigade’s combat power in the following period.
Significance
Fire ‘92 was the first offensive action of the 5th Corps of the ARBiH and marked a turning point in the brigade’s way of war. It showed that it was possible not only to defend but also to liberate territory from a better-equipped enemy.
