Course of the Operation
Operation Maestral was the first significant joint operation of HV, HVO and the Army of BiH in western Bosnia. It lasted from 8 to 17 September 1995, during which an area of about 2,500 km² was liberated. The 5th Corps advanced from the direction of Bihać toward Mount Grmeč, Bosanski Petrovac and Bosanska Krupa. Simultaneously, HV and HVO liberated Drvar, Šipovo and Jajce. After this operation, the 5th Corps launched Operation Sana '95 which led to the liberation of Ključ and Sanski Most.

Course of the operation
The 5th Corps advanced from the direction of Bihać toward Mount Grmeč, Bosanski Petrovac and Bosanska Krupa. Simultaneously, the HV and HVO liberated Drvar, Šipovo and Jajce. The operation liberated an area of about 2,500 square kilometers.
Outcome
2,500 square kilometers of western Bosnia were liberated. The 5th Corps took Bosanski Petrovac and Bosanska Krupa, creating the preconditions for launching Operation Sana ‘95, which led to the liberation of Ključ and Sanski Most.
Significance
Maestral was the first joint operation of the HV, HVO and ARBiH, which changed the course of the war in western Bosnia. The combined force of the three formations enabled the rapid liberation of a large area.
