Event Details
The Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided on 21 October 1992 to form the 5th Corps of the Army of RBiH with headquarters in Bihać. This was one of seven corps of the ARBiH, and its area of responsibility covered the Una-Sana Canton. The first commander appointed was Ramiz Dreković, who had previously commanded the Una-Sana Operational Group. At the time of formation, the Corps numbered 10,152 members organized into 7 brigades. The establishment of the 5th Corps marked the beginning of organized military resistance in this area.
